I bought this for the pigeons I work with. In any case, a ring-necked pigeon will fit around 100g (they are larger). Whether she gets used to the bird or not depends on the bird: someone has taken root, someone has not. I would not wash the dishes as this material is woven straw which will fall apart over time. Put some bedding, some seed/hay in it to encourage inspection and feel comfortable in the basket. The bells and flowers on the sides are colorful and fun for a bird who cares about such things. Note: I find the price a bit outrageous ($21 for a bird feeder?)
