Firstly, as everyone says, it cannot be turned off. Since I bought it for specific use I will just remove the battery until I need it. Second, DO NOT forget to remove the battery and remove the packaging upon receipt. Third, it's pretty loud and yes, it beeps every second and every minute as long as you tune it in. So if you want to set a timer for 50 minutes and 30 seconds, you'll hear 80 loud beeps just to set it. Fourth, it's pretty much pointless even though the box says "count time forwards and backwards". The numbers increase as you set them, and then when you press start they start counting down - yes! Finally, once the timer is triggered, if you don't reset it but just press the start button again, it will reset to the last time you set it (it seems a bit strange, but if you always set the timer to the same set time , I think it might be useful); Otherwise you have to reset it to zero by pressing the min and sec buttons at the same time. Eventually the little stand in the back was stiff against mine; first a third of the way was opened; I was afraid it would break if I stood it up (right side up) but it didn't break - I hope you do too. I haven't used it often enough to know if it will hold up; crossed fingers.
