We installed two 40ft sections of light outside the home. We live in Minnesota and we've had snow and ice since we turned on the lights. According to the instructions, the plug is not waterproof. So I took a plastic container (ice bucket) to put the power cords and plugs in and cut holes in the side container. It worked well and there were no electrical issues during snow storms or rain. The lighting remote control was IR (red infa) and you needed line of sight to the receiver controlling the lighting effects. A nice feature is that if the system was set up for one night and then turned off, the next night when we turned on the lights, the system "remembered" the setting it had been using the night before. This is a good system, except the electrical plug that comes with it isn't designed for outdoor use.
