Review on πŸ”’ Multi-Purpose Scotch Masking Tape by Darrell Beecher

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Nice alternative to the art book!

I actually use this to mask areas in a painting. I was very concerned about what type of masking tape to use because I didn't want it to be strong enough to remove the paint or weak enough to drip off. I also had concerns about leaving marks on the canvas. I will say that this tape worked well for my purpose. I had a hard time sticking it to the canvas (probably due to its texture) but it didn't run at all and didn't leave any noticeable marks. Note: I didn't leave the masking tape on the canvas longer than it took to paint each piece, I removed it when the paint dried. So I'm not sure if leaving the tape for several hours or days will leave marks on the canvas. I have yet to try it on areas that already have paint so hopefully it won't peel off existing paint. It's quite thick and a bit difficult to cut with my X-acto knife (I cut out masking areas when painting), but that's the only negative I've experienced so far. If it were a little thinner and easier to stick to canvas surfaces, this tape would be perfect for my "artwork hook and loop" use (it costs twice as much).

Pros
  • Absolutely amazing!
Cons
  • Not bad, but...
