Great for removing rough calluses and smoothing skin - better than sandpaper, pumice or metal files. I find it works better when wet (by rinsing it under the tap before use) and a lot less messy (dry foot powder is uncomfortable everywhere). The surface is "sharp" but I haven't found it to be damaging to skin and I have very sensitive skin. I work carefully, being careful not to sand too deep. I haven't seen any benefit from working in a specific direction (e.g. back and forth, one way, in a circle). Everything seems almost the same, which means "everything is fine". /slide on my hand, but the plastic itself is slippery and I've found it slip out of my hand a few times. It's still easier to hold than my previous one which didn't have a center handle like this one. I am absolutely not a fan of the holographic plastic finish. I would be much happier with just a matte white or black material, plus it would be easier to grip. It is fully washable (no footprints on the surface) and looks new after use.
