I have several OBD2 scanners / diagnostic tools. I work in the power industry (motorcycles, quads, utvs etc) it costs multiple to use more than these and most of them have less features. As I said in a previous review, if you are an auto technician or even just a do-it-yourselfer and have a modern car then an OBD2 scanner/diagnostic tool is a must. There are many Makes and models to buy from very cheap to quite expensive and as the price goes up you usually get more features you get. A cheap OBD2 scanner will most likely have a low resolution screen and will only scan for DTCs and no code definitions offer. Also, cheaper scanners are more likely overall to have no real-time data stream and recording capabilities. These budget scanners bi Also may not receive upgrades and may not work with later vehicle models. More expensive OBD2 scanners/diagnostics tools like this have higher resolution color screens, offer DTC definitions, are up to date and do more than just read and clear DTCs e.g. B. viewing live data streams, even taking pictures and recording the data for later playback. I bought the FOXWELL NT624 Elite OBD2 Scanner/Diagnostic Tool because of the higher resolution screen, built in DTC definitions and because it can be updated (for free) via their website. lifetime upgrade). It also gives you real time data readings for most OBD2 controlled systems in your vehicle and has the ability to capture and record streaming data and you can reset many systems and trouble codes with this tool. I also like that it comes with a nice hard case. Before using the FOXWELL NT624 for the first time, I went to the FOXWELL Tech website, signed up for a free account, and then downloaded the software needed to update the scanner as well as view files from the scanner. . Once installed, the software acts as a toolbar for updating the scanner with the latest scanner file updates, as well as selecting the car models you want your scanner to access. You can also delete models if you wish. (See screenshot below) The included micro SD memory card can store all available car models if you wish. But I've chosen not to install some obscure models that I've never heard of and will never work with. Note. Wait for all updates to complete before turning off the scanner or pressing any button. I find it best to leave while the scanner is updating so I'm not tempted to touch anything. After installing the latest updates I was able to plug the FOXWELL NT624 into the OBD2 diagnostic port on my truck and car and start testing all the functions. I didn't read the manual at first, but I was able to navigate through all the settings and screens fairly quickly as the button layout is pretty intuitive and the tool prompts you on screen. (More advanced diagnostics and running charts require some reading first.) I've only been using this OBD2 scanner/diagnostic tool for a while, but so far I'm enjoying it. The tool feels comfortable in the hand, and the navigation and selection buttons are well-placed and rubberized for easy navigation, even when wearing mechanic's gloves. The 4.3 inch TFT screen is sharp and easy to read with information screens that are logically arranged and easy to navigate. Also, the amount of information this scanner/diagnostic tool reads and the features it offers is incredible, especially considering the price. The only minor downside I can think of is that the scanner's body isn't rubberized, so I'll be careful not to drop it. update this review.
