This is very helpful when dealing with old clocks that either don't have keys or when someone forgets to provide a key for a clock they want me to fix. I was a little concerned that the attached ends of the key could interfere with or rub against the dial and hands when winding due to the star-shaped arrangement and inclination towards the watch. However, when I used a size #3 on a pre-Civil War ogee with dropped shafts, there was plenty of slack. My keys arrived quickly with free next day shipping. They appear to be solidly built. Time will be a test.
