Review on Sony M 850V Pressman Microcassette Recorder by Chef Buntiloy

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Obsolete, yes. But still great for voice recording and storage.

Yes, the new digital recorders have more capacity and useful features. But analogue recording has many advantages. Like digital photos, they are not deleted if the computer crashes. No weird file system or confusing folders. Just hit record and go while the reels spin, you know what's good. If you wish to keep it, simply take out the microcassette and place it in a drawer, or you can make a backup on your computer if you wish. But in any case you still have a hard copy. Sony made some of the best microcassette recorders and many journalists still use them instead of their digital counterparts. Even many courts don't allow digital recording (I don't know why), showing that the good old Sony MC60 recorder still has a place. It would be great if someone built a digital/analogue voice recorder.

Pros
  • Advanced Voice Activated Recording (VOR) saves valuable recording time
Cons
  • I don't remember
