Vinyl is no different than standard vinyl. Cricut vinyl is thicker and actually works better. The backing paper kept tearing and leaving paper scraps on my carpets! I started with a standard grip mat and also tried a lightweight grip mat with no success. The settings on the machine had to be set to paper + otherwise the blade would cut through the vinyl and paper backing. When I finally figured out the settings and carefully pulled out the vinyl not to tear the backing paper, all the vinyl was crumpled. I will neither buy nor recommend this product.
