I give this bacon press five stars. It's appropriately heavy because it's round, it works great on my round pan. I use it in a 14" pan so it doesn't cover the entire area but I don't need it. When the bacon is bubbling I put it on the press and that's it, the bacon is flat. The handle is wood, it's smooth in my hand and just the right diameter for easy holding, I think it's about 1 1/4". It's just right. The press is cast iron, so wear After washing with soap and water, I dab a light coat of oil on it, let it sit for a minute, then wipe it off and clean it.We grow our own tomatoes and eat BLT about once a week, so I started looking for presses This makes it easy to add bacon to a sandwich, thanks for a great product.
