Lightweight, durable construction. Don't let the weight fool you, it's pretty solid. The pieces snap easily and won't come loose, but if they do in the event of a fall, just push together and they snap into place. Assembly and disassembly should not be difficult. The surface is very smooth, but be careful where you place the cube as a smooth surface can be scratched, but small scratches should not be visible. It spins and lubricates very well. Each colored side of the center square is hollow, holding the lid securely in place, it has a tiny slot you can pry it through with your fingers, exposing a screw. This screw can be rotated and adjusted to tighten and loosen, which will affect the smoothness or tight, there will be rotation of the cubes, but don't over-tighten, or the cube will jam.
