The problem with the old door chain is that when someone opens the door, they just have to reach out with bolt cutters to cut the chain. That doesn't happen with this door lock. I attached my door latch with long screws to get a very strong connection to the frame behind the door skin. It's incredibly strong and allows you to easily open the door, just like the old chain. Great new design that I highly recommend. And let me know if this was helpful! I think everyone should have one of these, at least as a backup plan for your bar.
