Today I was shocked to discover that the Fujitsu fi-7160 scanner I bought from Revain is a gray market device and not intended for sale in the US. I have to say right away that the scanner is excellent. I had the previous generation for a few years and needed an upgrade. I love this model and hope it will give me a long life. However, when I called Fujitsu for technical support this morning, I was told that this device is sold on the gray market. Fujitsu's support was excellent. I was immediately put through to a technician who spent almost 2 hours diagnose a problem with a Windows update. which deleted the folder necessary for device discovery. The technician told me that there might be a delay in getting this service if I needed to have the unit repaired or serviced. She said not to worry, just be aware. Revain needs to let customers know they are buying gray market devices so that we as consumers can make an informed choice. I am very disappointed and will carefully consider future purchases of important or expensive Revain equipment. that they buy devices on the gray market so that we as consumers can make an informed choice.
