After applying this product to my skin it started to sting and left red marks that lasted for several days. It says in large print that it's hypoallergenic, but it lists sodium silicate in its ingredients. When I checked, I found the following: Sodium silicates are alkaline substances and are dangerous to the skin and eyes. The physiological effects of contact will vary depending on the alkalinity of the particular silicate, ranging from irritation to chemical burns. That's exactly what I used it for. My skin started burning immediately after applying it, so I couldn't dye my hair. When I contacted the company that sold me the hair dye, they said it was safer (and a lot cheaper) to use petroleum jelly on the hairline and were surprised that anyone was selling a product with sodium silicate for the skin.
