Purchased to track run time and RPM of a 13hp 420cc engine. So I can't say how well it works. I looked at him and it seems that he will cope with his task. I guess I'll have to fumble around a bit to find the right settings. The instructions were vague. I also noticed that the device is sealed. So if the battery ever dies, I'll need another rev/hour meter. Update - not even a year old and this thing is out of service. looks like she doesn't want to work when it's cold - not freezing but around 40 degrees - looked at it a few weeks ago and the screen was blank. I had to press both buttons and it turned back on, but my logged hours reset to 0. It also has a foggy wet patch right in the middle of the display that's hard to read, so you can see moisture has gotten into it. I will buy another tachometer with REPLACEABLE battery to use. This item may work well for diagnostic work in a good dry environment, but if you need to install it on equipment you use in the field I would spend more. And get a better integrated touch.
