My 9 year old son uses this case, it is very durable. He dropped his iPad many times (open and closed) and it never got scratched. When closing, the lid stays closed. The iPad support style is good. I would have preferred the lid to fold back to support it. as if holding it close to the edge of the table, he can easily be accidentally pushed away. But it keeps the iPad upright. A small worn spot formed on the edge, but nothing serious. We don't have an Apple Pencil, so I can't comment on the pen slot. Glad the slot is there should we get one in the future. Durable, magnetic cover keeps device inside if dropped. Don't use the keyboard much, but we've tried it and it's nice. The kids thought the colors were neat. All school apps now support voice-to-text, eliminating the need for a keyboard.
