Well made and plenty of outlets

I ordered a Tripp Lite 24 outlet surge protector from Revain and it arrived quickly. The extension looks well made. I like the illuminated closed power button and love that it is a surge protector when I plug computers and their peripherals into it. To me a 15ft power cord is overkill, but too long is better than too short (wish the power cord had a 90ยบ plug). I installed a 72 inch extension on the windowsill at our desks in our home office. Attaching the metal mounting clips was fairly easy. Going through the plaster, I pre-drilled the holes centered 2 inches from the bottom of the window. Brackets only came with nuts and bolts for attachment to thin metal. I used drywall screws long enough to go into the wood in the windowsill. If you are mounting the splitter to hollow drywall, I recommend using appropriate mounting anchors and beveled drywall screws. The mounting brackets snap into grooves running along the underside of the strip, snapping into the grooves was a little tricky but not that difficult. The outlet is aligned along the length of the strip and the spacing is close enough that the larger transformer/power supply blocks block the nearest outlet. That bothered me at first, I considered returning the strip until I realized that some of my transformers run at a 90ยบ angle, so the transformers will block the sockets anyway. The distance is only a fraction of 24 outlets on a 72" wide strip (20 outlets on the same 72" wide strip would be more convenient for a transformer). Since most transformers are ungrounded, I use ungrounded plug adapters to elevate the transformers where they are needed and free up any outlets. more sockets at the same time. If you have space you can use short 1 foot extensions. If you just plug in regular power cords most of the time, this is a handy extension cord, if you need to connect a lot of transformer blocks, find an extension cord with more outlet spacing.

Pros
  • Very impressive
Cons
  • Dull packaging
