I bought this to neutralize water. I have well water with an inlet softener and carbon filter in place. I tested it at the Pennsylvania State Lab and it failed the pH test at 5.87. The review (and the NSF website) suggested a calcite or calcium carbonate neutralizing filter. I bought it to put on the cold line of a faucet. The installation was certainly easy, the plug on the ports is excellent and tight. I had to purchase 3/8" JG to 1/2" NPT adapters to connect them to the water supply. The installation took me 3 minutes. Very cool. I followed the instructions, set the correct flow direction after the softener and activated carbon filters, and flushed the filter for 10 minutes. I couldn't see any noticeable difference in pH. My water still measures pH 5.87. After measuring multiple samples over 2 weeks with consistent results, I have concluded that this filter is ineffective. I do not recommend it for neutralizing low pH well water.
