I knew it would be flimsy but not fragile. My husband wore the necklace for the entire 5 minutes. He looked at the necklace for a while, put it on and removed the box and wrapping paper. He sat back on the couch, found the movie on Netflix, settled back in his chair to enjoy it, and boom. one of the links in the chain broke. There were no bumps, no accidents, no screams. I looked at it and saw that it was hanging, torn in the middle - the connection broke. If you want light weight then this is it. But be careful. I didn't listen to other reviews. It is too delicate and fragile to be carried. Width is not the same as thickness.
