This knitting kit is advertised for 'boys' but the size is not for younger boys. The advertised size is medium and the gloves and mittens are big enough for a teenager. I am a woman of average height and the gloves and hat fit me perfectly. Dark blue looks black, but in the right light you can tell it's definitely a dark blue. The yarn used is soft and the knitting is tight. No lining in hat or mittens. Cap with red cuffs. Keeps hands and head warm in cooler weather but does not work well in frosty/snowy weather.
