Not worth the risk

I bought a blank key and FOB for my 2009 Lexus RX350 from this seller assuming it would work as advertised. However, the blank key needs to be cut and I had to go to the Lexus dealership anyway as no non-dealer locksmith guarantees that the Lexus key cut will work. Lexus, I was even more disappointed with the supplied programming guide from this vendor which will not work. After several strange emails with the seller to confirm my purchase, I received an apology for not working and offered a refund ONLY if I send the cut key back to him. returned my car keys to the seller who now has all my personal information including my home address. In a final act of desperation, I took the non-working key fob back to the Lexus dealership to have it formally programmed. Lexus couldn't guarantee the fob would work, of course, since it wasn't a Lexus product, but it only attempted to program it after agreeing to a $75 service fee. So yeah, you guessed it, Lexus couldn't get the key fob to work. My advice: Yes, buying key parts from the dealer may seem more expensive to you, but in my case it was the only option for my Lexus model. .
