Cracked maybe 40 pecans. took it off a small board and bolted it to a 2x4 about two feet long. The thread is very coarse when adjusting the back gauge. This is not at all what we remember many years ago. Yes, it will crack open a pecan, but it requires some work that wasn't there in the olden days. Attach it to something heavy first. Second, apply downward pressure, not the side. Hold the pressure and smack the back of your hand with your other hand to get a pretty good snap. Can be rotated and repeated if necessary. It's not that bad, just not top notch.
