Review on Supco VG640D Vacuum Gauge Accuracy by Phillip Johnson

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Suitable for starting a career

My employer bought this meter to save money. I have a very nice Ritchie vacuum gauge for my personal work, but it's almost three times the price of this gauge and my employer wouldn't pay as much. After a year of use, I noticed a decrease in accuracy. I cleaned it regularly using the manufacturer's recommended procedure and kept fresh batteries in it. Unfortunately, the accuracy continues to decrease. After what I would describe as light to moderate use, it now reads nearly 60 microns higher than my Ritchie, which I know to be accurate. And there is no way to adjust the supco gauge. This manometer is suitable for beginners or for advanced do-it-yourselfers. I do not recommend this for field devices.

Pros
  • Handy built-in bracket
Cons
  • Incredible piggy bank
