Very glad I bought it - pros/cons/thoughts

I was small I was small at first I was hesitant to buy this car but I'm so glad I did. First a little about how I sew, then the pros and finally the cons of this machine. My experience: I don't sew much, but all the machines I've owned have been Singers. I sewed mostly for things like hemming, simple repairs, and home decor. I also made clothes - mainly shirts, skirts and simple dresses. Nothing fantastic. However, over the years I've wanted to sew more creatively and my Singer wasn't very versatile. Also, it started to bother me - it's time for a new car! But which one to buy? My first thought was another Singer, but after much research I settled on the Brother CS6000i. And I don't regret my decision. By the way, I'm writing this review after using it for over 2 years, so I've gone through quite a few projects. Has it always been easy? I've encountered occasional issues, but the vast majority of them have been "user error". But 98% of the time it was no problem. Pros: Stitches - Lots of stitches which makes me happy when creativity kicks in. I also love the automatic buttonhole feature - after years of using 4-step buttonholes I'm not afraid to use buttonhole patterns anymore! , didn't seem to work. Then I watched some YouTube videos and the problem was solved! Top loading bobbins - I don't like side loading bobbins so I was specifically looking for a top loading machine - ahhh! BTW, I didn't buy any "brother" coils - I bought plain, clear, grade 15 coils (about 30 coils for $2), and for the most part they worked fine. (Yes, I had a problem with some cheap spools, but I just threw them away - I've had plenty more.) Locked legs are a low-shank machine and require a "universal" lock. sewing feet. I went crazy and bought all kinds of sewing machine feet (read 32ft bags here on Revain) and they all worked great with the machine. While the foot sometimes needs a shaft change, most snap in quickly and easily. Quiet operation - it's so nice to have a quiet machine! medium for most of my work, sometimes I have to work slowly and sometimes "petal to metal". They all work great. strength/weight It's not a steel machine, which makes it lighter. However, it's quite durable and doesn't feel cheap. Very easy to move from room to room. Works great on a variety of materials. Although I mainly sew in cotton/cotton blends, I do sew in silk, satin, jersey and canvas. I have also sewn several layers of cotton with a thick fleece lining without any problems (even if I forgot to exchange the needle for a thicker one - my shortcoming). Cons: All cars have cons, but mine is basically "I'm Wish". Random tension issues - mostly my fault for choosing the wrong tension for the project, once I knew I had the correct tension I turned the machine off, turned it back on and rethreaded the machine (needle and presser foot) , and it seemed to resolve itself. When quilting, the harp/throat seems really small. OK. Standard needle position - standard needle position on the left To have the correct needle position or an adjustable needle position (i.e. move the needle left/right in small increments) I expect both will be present on more expensive machines ( which means I can't have everything for a car under $150 LOL Summary: I am very, very happy with this machine, although I'm more of an average (hardly) sewer, I think this machine is suitable for all skill levels is one I look forward to and will keep for many years to come.
