Much more eco-friendly than plastic bags; similar performance and quality

I have previously had several similar gallon bags from the same manufacturer. My impression is that these bags are identical in design and function, only they are quarts instead of gallons. These bags work just like the regular plastic bags you buy at the grocery store. They seal well. You can put them in the fridge or freezer and they're sealed, won't leak or smell. However, they specifically say not to heat them in the microwave. The big difference is that these bags are made from corn and not petroleum products (as is the case with plastic). They're more sustainable to make, and because they're 100% compostable, they're a lot more sustainable if you recycle them. Another thing that differs from regular plastic bags is that you can see through them as well. And on one side there is an inscription that makes it even more difficult to see that side. When you're done with these bags, don't throw them in the trash. You'll be cooped up in a plastic trash bag for years (maybe decades) and that defeats the purpose of those bags. Instead, throw them in the compost. But if you don't have a compost bin like I do, you can just bury them in the ground somewhere. They don't decompose as quickly as in a compost bin, but they still disappear after 6-9 months while adding some nutrients to the soil. This is actually called "trench composting".

Pros
  • Food storage bags
Cons
  • Damaged
