The product arrived very timely. The installation guide was pretty easy. I didn't use the included screws when going through the garage ceiling which is two layers of drywall. I had to climb into the garage attic to add support studs as the 2x4s were moving sideways and I didn't want the canoe hanging in that direction. My canoe is 118 pounds so that's the limit. The two screws holding the rope tie came loose and stuck them into the wall (wood) which didn't give me much confidence. Moved it and just used better hardware. As others have said, the rope needs to be replaced immediately. After being raised and lowered several times, it began to wear out. My biggest problem is that he hangs the canoe too low. I have an 8ft ceiling and have to dive under canoes when in the garage. I'm only 5'6. Luckily the canoe is above the military M151A1 and I can lower the windshield to allow the car to fit under the canoe. I'm working on a solution to this problem so the unit can be raised to the ceiling. Raising and lowering a 118-pound canoe takes a while to get used to, but it's doable. You need to lift the front slightly, then the back, repeat as needed. The same applies to downgrades. Aside from the rope and the inability to elevate the unit to the ceiling as high as I would like, I am very happy with the system. One star deducted because I immediately bought a better rope.
