Review on Intelligent Snado Universal Rechargeable Batteries by Becky Smith

Charged my 14500 lithium batteries

I received this charger to use with a set of 14500 Li-ion batteries. This turned out to be fine, although I initially had some issues with display crosstalk when only charging a 14500 battery (the second display sometimes acted like it was charging too). I had no problems charging 2 14500 batteries at the same time. Maybe my USB connection wasn't as tight as it should have been, but initially the behavior was so bad I thought the device was defective. The charger is rated at 1A per battery. No other specs are given, so it's not obvious that it's actually smart enough to stay within LI-Ion charging specs. It has a number of certifications, FCC, EU CE certification and international ASTM certification, which indicate its safety, although they do not reflect the claim that it is "smart". In other words, you have to trust that a lithium-ion battery will not fail or otherwise degrade by not pedaling or using some other reasonable process. Apparently it can detect if you're charging Li-Ion or NiMh, so hopefully that's not what the term 'smart' means. Pros: 1) LED indicator of active charge 2) Uses a standard USB cable to charge your phone 3) Designed to charge most lithium-ion batteries 4) Can also charge A, AA, AAA NiMH batteries , AAAA5 ) Great price for this type of charger Cons: 1) Longevity is questionable, especially given the crosstalk I initially encountered 2) It's not as thin as I'd like, although it's light and portable enough 3) Documentation is sparse, all that remains is what makes this charger "smart” is left to your imagination. My overall rating is 4.5 stars. Happy with the purchase, especially considering the price.

Pros
  • high-definition LCD displays real-time charging status. Two sets of LED indicators display independently while charging, make charging visible, and stop when charging is intelligently completed;
Cons
  • Fading
