I didn't realize that the "old style" wheels measured different. After trying to mount a 26 inch tire on a 26 inch wheel without success I did my homework and realized the 70's rim was a slightly bigger diameter. The retro rim needed to be 26x 1 3/8 with the 1 3/8 being the key. These tires are probably 1/2 inch or so larger diameter than the "modern" 26 inch tire. Perfect fit, easy mount, good price and quick delivery. I learned something with this bicycle. Some new "bad words" trying to get the first set of 26 inch tires to fit and that the right tires made all the difference.
