Defective and Dangerous

This curling iron uses a series of capacitive touch buttons on the handle to change settings. Each touch changes the settings. The default setting for manual mode is maximum temperature. The iron should not start heating until the settings on the device are fixed (by pressing the power button twice). At least that's what the instructions say. In fact, heat is applied instantly. This means that most people trying to use this turn it on, set their settings and start using the curling iron. The only documentation on lock screen is in the user manual, it is not obvious on the device itself. If you touch the front of the handle at any point during use, the settings will toggle and usually result in significantly more heat than intended. It can't be healthy for your hair in any way, and it seems like this behavior poses a serious danger to those who use it. When used properly, curling irons work well. It heats up very quickly and otherwise seems well constructed, but the design of the device's user interface means it becomes dangerous for those who have not been trained before using it. The product also does NOT behave as described and the security software features do not work at all. It might be worth taking another look at in the next iteration, but in its current state it's pretty clear that an inadequate level of testing has been done that will damage your hair or that of your friends/family. Fancy backlit capacitive keys aren't worth burning. your hair gone
