I had hard water and used a 3M descaling filter. It worked, but not as well as a water softener. I bought this to work with and when I saw that most of my limescale was gone I didn't replace the filter but removed it instead. Fast forward in a few months. Complete assembly as before. I tried to contact the company but I kept getting messages saying they would call me back but never did. I called several times, got through and was told to try something and call back. So far I haven't been able to reconnect to them. I went ahead and ordered a new filter as well as one of the most popular electronic scale converters I've read about on several websites to replace. This is actually my second device that I have had to buy as I accidentally hit the first one with a ladder and it ripped the wire out of the box. The new one I used has swappable wires that connect to the bottom of the unit. It's better for me because the box is. I really wanted to like it because of the cost but you get what you pay for. Spend a little more and get one of the newer flat cable styles.
