Review on White Graphix Shrink Film πŸŽ₯ - 8.5x11 Size - Pack of 6 by Kristen Reid

Revainrating 5 out of 5

It shrinks to a white opaque. Holds Sharpie permanent ink well.

We used so much Shrinky Dink I had to find a cheaper alternative in bulk. I received 50 sheets of Matt Grafix shrink wrap hoping it would be some sort of Ruff'n'Ready Shrinky Dink plastic. That's not true at all - in fact, I gleaned from the packaging that Grafix makes a 'sanded' variant which has a rough surface for children to draw and color with pencils. SO Matt is a smooth finish, but the plastic has a milky translucent texture. . It's nice to draw with Sharpie permanent markers, but a pencil won't work unless you sharpen it yourself. Sharpie lasts longer on matte shrink wrap than clear Shrinky Dink sheets, but I was disappointed that the Grafix sheets lost their properties. light transmission when they shrink. As the plastic gets thicker, it becomes almost opaque. If you hold it up to a light you can still see colors, but otherwise you can only see colors from one side at a time. So if you want a clear finish this is not the material for you. If you need a surface for pencils, you'll need to hand sand them with sandpaper. In my attached example I show three parts after shrinking. The white item is from the Grafix brand, the other two are made from Ruff'n'ready Shrinky Dink plastic.
