I bought this and another similar model from the same Vilcome company and found it just didn't work properly with our new M1 iMacs. While all of the other USB hubs/adapters we have work well with external drives, this and the other Vilcome adapters don't. All of our other hubs/adapters read/write around 135-140Mbps with the same external drive. If the drive was mounted at all, they could only read at 1Mbps. That is ONE and a little more than zero. I'm late on this simply because the new iMacs were shipping over a month late, we bought them expecting that we'd get the new computers much sooner than we did. Luckily for a few bucks more we found another USB-C adapter/hub that works great. These vilcome units were a sad disappointment. We threw the bones and got burned. Off to the dump with it. UPDATE: Wilcom contacted me without asking and offered a full refund. While my review stands, it was nice to realize that they genuinely care about customer satisfaction and stand behind their products.
