*** I don't write bad reviews, it's better to keep going. However, I know how much I have relied on honest reviews for my purchases, especially when it comes to something important like my hair :) so here it is. For the past few months I've been on the hunt for a new, quality, efficient iron - I've read reviews and researched different brands and features hoping for one that comes close to the amazing brand that I love for its quality. last few years. I was spoiled with my great (high end branded iron) which sadly has finally died. Although they are now making a newer, improved model of my previous iron, I figured before spending a small fortune on another iron I might be able to find one that works a little cheaper. And here I am. I tried 4 different irons from different brands - same characteristics and concluded that they just don't do the quality I'm used to. Although there were only 8 reviews for this iron, when I stumbled upon it all the reviews were 5 stars and the features, benefits and even the overall look of this iron was identical to what I had before. so I dared. Super disappointed! Upon opening, I noticed a lot of white chalk like paint stains all over the inside of the box and iron. The plastic looks very cheap and flimsy and I was worried it would end up breaking easily, especially since the plates are just lined up and they close evenly if you press down hard on the thumb grips, there's no lock-to-close feature , so the iron stays open all the time, all the buttons are on the outside which I kept pressing with my hand during use I had to keep stopping to make sure I wasn't changing the settings, there was a strong smell of burnt Plastic, which also continued on the 3rd day. Yes even after all this I still tried this iron 3 mornings in a row assuming I was missing something as previous reviews were all 5 stars. so i tried it The flat iron took several passes to even try to straighten my hair and I have medium textured hair with a natural wave and bed head :) nothing major to contend with, no frizz or tight curls, just natural ( dyed) hair. it made my hair a lot less shiny. really very dull and ashy, looks almost dirty and yes I always use a heat protectant as well as a good quality shampoo conditioner. Around noon my hair started to bristle again and couldn't even stand what the flat iron was "trying" to do. On day 3, the iron stopped rising above 350* and stopped falling. constantly hung at 350 *, the power button did not turn off even when pressed for a few seconds. I had to turn it off to turn it off. It might look like my amazing old Croc professional iron in looks, and the list might be the same in terms of features and benefits, but this iron definitely isn't anywhere near as good. it's coming back
