Kids projects are small enough to finish quickly but big enough to give you an idea of how the template will work. The Bliss book lacks diagrams and relies only on knitting patterns, which I find a disadvantage. But the patterns themselves are charming. The proposed sizes are generous, since it is rarely necessary to knit a product that does not allow the child to grow. One pattern I think I could design is a garter knit cardigan in case I need a shower gift.
