Review on πŸ”’ Secure and Space-Saving TotalMount Apple AirPort Express Mount: Mount Your Router with Ease by Jerry King

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Well done but the stupid mounting system and adhesive strips are ruining the walls!

Looks like it was made by a group of friends (at least that's what the box says) so I fully support it, but there are a few design issues that need to be addressed. First, the mounting system is fairly loose β€” the clip design means the router will wobble when you install it on the wall unless you're using screws that poke holes in the walls. Doesn't look super premium like an Apple product, but the router fits nicely in the bracket. Second (and more importantly) the tape design is a really bad choice. I thought I'd use it because I've had success in the past with command bars that didn't damage the walls (and I didn't want to use screws because of the holes), but the supplied glue is a lot more aggressive than command bars. Even using dental floss to first cut through the adhesive when trying to remove the fasteners still removed the paint and the first few layers of paper from my drywall. I have two large brown squares on my walls where fasteners used to be that I now have to pay someone to fix. If I could go back again I wouldn't buy it knowing these issues but I guess I'm living and learning.

Pros
  • Absolutely amazing!
Cons
  • Infinitely Sluggish
