I bought this for my office to give my old desktop speakers a little extra bass. I liked that Bluetooth was built in, as well as optical and RCA connections. I had a couple of old external speakers that still sounded decent but only had a 1/4 inch audio jack to connect to. I connected the speakers to the subwoofer using a 1/4" Y-cable with two male RCA plugs (this is not included - a Y-cable is included but it has a 1/4" plug - no problem). switch because I already had it). Now let your desktop speaker with subwoofer play over Bluetooth or any other connection. It's probably not a high-end entertainment system subwoofer (you're not paying those prices), and it's limited in that every device needs to be plugged into it in order to work (so you can't put a subwoofer under the sofa with the one). main speakers under the TV). unless you run cables. But for a desktop system or small office system, this works well enough.
