I believe there will be protection if needed, the glass is transparent and fairly easy to install. The only problem is restoring fingerprint recognition. Even with touch sensitivity turned on, it took a long time for fingerprints to appear. When using a reader, opening the phone requires multiple different attempts and/or finger positions to be recognized. Without a defender, it happened almost immediately. The touchscreen is flawless in every other respect.
