Review on 🦖 Safari Ltd Psittacosaurus Realistic Construction: A Perfect Blend of Authenticity and Quality by David Skyline

The 2017 Mongolian Psittacosaurus is based on a perfectly preserved specimen found in 2005, resulting in a more scientifically accurate figure than the 1998 Carnegie figure. The figure is placed in the middle of the stage. Neutral but active, it conveys a lively and energetic herbivore going about its business. The sculpture is fairly accurate for paleo reconstructions based on newly discovered fossil evidence, with good proportions and musculature without excessive heat shrinkage. I appreciate having a pronounced butt boot. The front legs are held in the correct position and not only have the correct number of toes but are anatomically correct. Minimal contouring creates the illusion of skin folds, wrinkles and osteoderma. Tiny webbed feet are visible on the front paws and feet and there is a wonderful array of skin bristles along the tail. The color scheme reflects evidence of preserved melanosomes, hence the figure is shaded along the top with a tan hue fading to pale khaki with black spots throughout and light blue eyes. Amazing little figure, especially when combined with Schleich's 2018 Psittacosaurus sibiricus, and definitely recommended for paleofigure collectors.
