Simply put, a bucket with a fan attached to it. That didn't function at all at first, which means that the fan still spins, but it's not doing anything useful. I vented my frustrations in a number of reviews, including this one. Then I read that the first time you use the kit, you need to add the antibacterial liquid that comes with it. This creates a film on the drum, and it starts to properly capture water droplets (which then evaporate). And, lo and behold, the humidifier actually did its job! It is unclear why they chose not to write about this particular stage in the instructions. After a few days, the fan started making tapping noises at regular intervals; it is imperative to find a solution to this problem as soon as possible because it makes it very difficult to sleep at night. Aside from that, it's a good item, but there are issues with the input to operation, fan knocks, and it costs an exorbitant amount of money for such a simple design.
