Good alarm clock/radio but needs a better buzzer

Pros: Large numbers are easy to read from across the room. I'm nearsighted and don't sleep with glasses on. So if I wake up in the middle of the night I can read the clock across the room as opposed to clocks with a lower number. I leave my watch on the other side of the room so I don't have to hit the snooze button (which I've done in the past). The radio picks up well. Battery backup and automatic time setting are great features. It has a nice stylish look. 2 alarms are good. The snooze and silence buttons are easy to see in the dark as the alarm off button is slightly recessed (just the button on top). Cons: The biggest one for me is the buzzer. It's not very loud and not very noisy. It begins with intermittent high-pitched tones that gradually increase in volume and frequency. I guess part of the problem is that my old alarm clock (which I've had for 30 years) made a pretty loud, very quiet, constant tone that my mind was used to. Maybe I'll get used to it over time, but now it usually takes me 2-5 minutes for this thing to turn itself off before waking me up. Luckily, setting the radio for the alarm wakes me up with no problem, which brings me to my next point: you can choose the radio to wake you with just one of the two alarms. For some reason, one alarm clock has a buzzer or ringer as a wake up choice, while others have a buzzer or radio to wake up. Why not just use the buzzer/melody/radio as the 3 wake up options for each alarm? It makes no sense. The ringer setting is more useless to me than the buzzer setting (it's a crappy electronic version of 4 seasons or something), so I'll never use it. not really expensive. I like the reassurance that if my power is cycled, this thing will reset the time and save my alarm settings so it still wakes me up. If it lasts as long as my last watch, I'm sure it will be a great deal for me.

Pros
  • Great overall performance
Cons
  • Boring packaging
