Reads a little hot: Thermometer and timer

I bought this to use mainly for making candy. It tends to get a bit warm, especially at higher temperatures, and there doesn't seem to be a way to calibrate it. I live at 5200 feet so I have to check all my thermometers and adjust the temp based on my altitude. This one still reads about 10 degrees higher than my sturdy candy thermometer. In fact, it would be much better. It's easy to clean and the fact that it's silicone is a good thing. You just have to adjust the accuracy.
