My Lenovo C930 has two Thunderbolt 3 ports (USB Type-C port) and one USB 3.1 Type A port. There are no card slots at all. I use this laptop when I travel to take photos. I need both a CF card slot and an SD card slot. So, as for this hub, I can connect my laptop to one Thunderbolt port and then use it on another Thunderbolt port. I have CF and SD card slots and 3 USB Type A ports to use for my Blu-ray player if needed. The only thing I missed was UHS-II SD card support. As long as they work with an SD slot they don't get the extra transfer rate, but I can live with that.
