Mazuri LS - Basic Tortoise Food

I have three leopard tortoises (Stigmochelys pardalis, 2 different varieties) ranging in age from 5 to 16 years and about 12 inches long. The two younger tortoises were raised on a Mazuri LS diet, starting with smaller pellets and progressing to the larger size at around 18 months of age. The oldest was transferred to the Mazuri LS when he was about 8 years old. In the summer, turtles roam (and snack on) the grassy yard and receive a flower or lettuce leaf as a reward. However, Mazuri LS pellets are their main feed all year round. Turtles seem to enjoy the pellets when they are slightly moistened. Together 3 turtles will eat about 1 cup of pellets per day. The main ingredient in the pellets is hay, so the pellets have a mild dried grass scent that I find pleasant. I buy a 25 pound bag about twice a year and store the pellets in a large screw top dog food storage container. All three turtles have good shells and excellent health - the Mazuri LS diet meets all of their nutritional needs. I highly recommend it.
