The main purpose of the vibration isolators is to protect the microphone between the microphone and mechanically generated vibrations. Knocking on the ground, banging on the table, setting up a glass of liquor, adjusting the bar while recording, etc. I've used one of the Blue's Ringers on my old Snowball in the past and it seems to have worked; everything was good. But now I have a Blue Yeti and I want to get the shock deal by buying a new Boom. Unfortunately I don't like hurting my wallet so I decided not to buy the overpriced Radius II. Looking around this was the item on the menu that Revain recommended so I took it and after a sound test I can say the hits and hits I made have been improved. It was only a modest improvement though, this shock mount didn't stop my keyboard from vibrating on my desk, up the shaft, through the mount and into the mic. Same goes for the clinking of my water glass and another test I did that connected to a table that had an arrow attached to it. In any case, the mount prevented less frequent, non-desk related noises. Walking on a hardwood floor, rolling a chair, and carrying weight on the chair, usually causing it to creak or break. (it's an old DXRacer so tends to make noise, especially in the armrests) So what I was aiming for fell short, but only on 'thiiis'. But when it comes to sound, it can be anything.
