Other reviews describe the shortcomings. Here's my take on it: I have a Hooversteam vacuum for big cleaning jobs. But it's big and bulky, so I don't like lugging it around unnecessarily. In addition, a lot of chemicals are needed for a small job. This little Bissell cleaner is much easier for small jobs. Example: We got a new mattress and what if I haven't found a stain on it within an hour. (I haven't misplaced leaves yet). My son couldn't explain it. Instead of lugging up a full-size steam cleaner, or worse, ignoring the stain (which happens), I just used the bissel - quick and easy. Here's the technique: - Purchase/spray Bissell' Hard Spot on spills. (Needs to be set for 2-5 minutes - this is done while you prepare the spot lifter.) - Fill the spot lifter bissell, use as directed. - If you suck the cleaning solution back from the stain, do this a few more times as the suction is off. moderate but not very strong - pour/rinse and let dry in sink. It's quick, easy and hassle-free! - Phil
