Basically I bought this as a power user and have a 2 story colonial style house and my previous wireless router (Netgear) had trouble reaching all corners of my house due to its design. I bought this WAP on my brother's recommendation, thinking I might need 2 to fully cover my house. In short I need it, I have excellent coverage and speed. My family (users) are happy! The management software is really powerful and a dream for experienced users. A separate system is required for operation. I first installed it on my Windows PC and then moved it to a dedicated Linux server in my basement. The software allows you to configure wireless signal strength and channels, provides alerts on unusual activity (e.g. when a radar scan is detected), information about which wireless clients are connected, what channel they are on, what bandwidth they use and so on. For example, there is an associated security gateway to provide a firewall/VPN and other services. In addition, this is theoretically integrated into management software to better understand the performance and reliability of your Internet. Haven't bought any of these yet but would love to try it to see. In short, if you understand the acronyms and what I'm saying in this review then get this WAP. If you don't understand the advanced terminology related to networking and Wi-Fi, this may not be the best solution for you. Pros: * Wide coverage * The management software is very powerful and allows you to dig into a ton of detail. * The management software can run on a separate server/system and is not tied to your device. Cons: * Gets a little warm (doesn't fit in the attic) * Requires a separate system to run the control software.
