We have two 40 lb dogs with the thickest 3 inch long black smooth coat. We set up camp in a tick infested area. It worsens about 1 month a year to the point where we brush our teeth 3 times a day and despite Frontline treatment are still removing any mites that are still attached. After a bite became badly infected we tried them with the Frontline we always use. Already three years, NO tick attached. Not alone. Frontline is great for treating and preventing fleas etc but poor for tick prevention. The fine print on Frontline and similar outer drops and all-in-one edibles states that the mites will still attach but will die after 24 hours. Not good enough for us. Now they are a staple when camping.
