This thing glows blue when it's working. It's just plug and play. Nervous watching its spectrum tv app and it really improved internet performance with things like videos on utube. When you buy it, just plug it into your laptop's USB port. I have an ACER Chromebook, a very basic laptop. This thing really improved the wireless bluetooth headphones I had because I read online that bluetooth can slow down wi-fi reception. And it really slows down Wi-Fi, because when I turned off Bluetooth on my Chromebook ACER, performance improved significantly. So I bought this USB adapter so I can use wireless Bluetooth headphones on Billboards and Shazam. My headphones started working great and my Spectrum TV app on my neighbor's TV started working great. no blue light. Because sometimes it is not necessary. But it definitely improves your Wi-Fi experience. Definitely worth your money!
