The "tactical pants" were big for me and without a belt would have fallen down. They do have elastic on the back but still too big. There are three pockets on each side. One is bigger that stands out from the pants for something larger like small binoculars and is zipped. The pocket above it is not very deep and open at the top. The third hand pocket is made out of mesh (see picture) and this should allow them to dry more quickly and allow water to pass through. It is also deep enough to conceal most phones easily.Don't put anything sharp in your hand pocket as it will cut this material. Speaking of material is it a rip-stop type material that you can see in the up close picture of the double stitching and little squares that represent the rip-stop design. The zipper is heavy duty and the button is strong. The knees are also expanded with extra material to allow to bending of the leg and kneeling. The leg room is good and not tight at all but more baggy. The material is fairly loud when you walk because of that extra room and slight roughness of the material.Overall, just a little big but otherwise happy with the pants.
