Review on 10 Outlet Heavy Duty Metal Power Strip with Circuit Breaker - Ideal for Garage, Shop, Industrial Use | Wall Mountable, 6.56ft Long Cord by Jon Smith

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Rough dealer name, no country of origin, poor grounding of the housing, weak plastic grommets

I never thought that a simple power upgrade could cause such a bad review. Read on for why you should avoid it and why Revain might want to remove it from their site. Bad: -- Vulgar dealer name REALLY?!. My guess is that the trader is unaware of the vulgar nature of their company name. Either way, Revain should tell them to change it or remove it from distribution. If it was a harmless mistake, a simple review by an American spokesman would have helped them improve their US sales change. After that I will file a complaint with Revane. -- Misleading Website, NO SEPARATE SWITCHES: Many of these importers seem to exaggerate or completely misrepresent product information in order to get a quick sale. In this case, they claim that each outlet has a switch, when in fact there is only one switch for every 10 outlets. -- NO PLACE OF MANUFACTURE: Each item legally sold in the United States is marked with its country of origin. This device has no markings to indicate it was made in China. -- WEAK UNUSED PLASTIC EXTENSION: The extensions on the case are oddly shaped and the only useful shape is a hole to hang it in the way. The plastic extension attaches with 1/4 self-tapping screws with only 2 1/2 threads, so there isn't really a strong attachment of the plastic ends to the metal case. -- CHEAP PLASTICS: Given the issues I've seen with this expansion, I decided to take a look at its internals. Unsurprisingly, the connector wiring and contacts are as cheap as can be. All connector wiring is pressure contacts, no soldering. -- POOR CHASSIS GROUND: The inside of the case is painted, insulating electrical contact, and the ground wire is attached to the painted surface without attempting to make good electrical contact with the metal case. Perhaps the extension case will not be grounded. -- WEAK Rocker Switch: The rocker switch feels sloppy and cheap. This is the type that mechanically fails if you tend to use the switch a lot. -- OUTLETS ARE TOO CLOSE: 10 outlets are very close together and you only get 10 outlets if you use straight plugs. - ADAPTER USING 3 OUTPUTS: There is no space between the outlets so the wall mount will cover 2 to 3 outlets depending on where it is plugged in. -- WEAK PLASTIC END: The plastic extension is held on with 1/4 long self-tapping screws with only 2 1/2 threads and does not support adequate weight. So expect them to come loose when you hang the outlet on the extensions. -- NO MOUNTING EYELETS: The device is not equipped with mounting lugs to allow it to be securely screwed to a wall or surface. -- NO PART NUMBER: The whole body has no information, no part number, no manufacturer. -- LACK OF DOCUMENTATION: No documentation, instructional specification, or warranty information, if any, was provided. Pros: – PLASTIC EXTENSION CAN BE REMOVED: On the other hand, the plastic extension is easily removed and held in place with just two 2 1/2 threaded screws for a more functional shape and streamlined look. -- TYPICAL EYE HOLES ON THE BACK: It has the typical eye mounts on the back, which can be placed on a nail head to hang freely on the wall, but are not fixed firmly -- POWER CORD 6.5 FT.

Pros
  • Heavy-duty plug
Cons
  • The list would be long.
